Chocolate Sauce in a Flash

We found a way to make delicious dark chocolate sauce for ice cream that only takes a few minutes.

We love it. It all starts with Trader Joe’s Pound Plus 72% Dark Chocolate:

For two servings we just click off 4 squares

Put them in a small bowl with some milk, about 3 Tablespoons

And then put it into a microwave. We set it for a minute on high but watch it and …. once the milk starts foaming up to the bowl’s edge, but not over, we take it out.

And mix it with a fork.

Delicious on ice cream.

Here’s the recipe.

Chocolate Sauce in a Flash

Cooking time: 2 -3 minutes; Makes 2 servings / scale up proportionally for more.

Ingredients                                                                               Weight

4 squares Trader Joe’s Pound Plus Chocolate 72 % Cacao          52 grams

3 Tablespoons of 2 % Milk                                                           35 Ml

Process

Find a small, microwave ready, bowl to just fit all the ingredients.

Place in microwave and set oven to run on high for 1 minute. Watch the bowl as the microwave turns. Just as the milk starts foaming up to the bowl’s top edge, but not over, stop the microwave and take it out. (30 seconds?)

Press a fork down on one of the double squares and move them around the hot bottom of the bowl in circles, mixing it with the hot milk. Blocks will start to melt bottom up. Keep up with the other squares once this first pair disappears. Continue to mix the whole bowl at a good rate with the fork until the sauce is smooth and consistent – no lumps. – Add on top of ice cream.
